Compression Ball
Improves:
- Arm Connection
- Swing Structure
- Ball Compression
Description:
The Compression Ball is a simple but highly effective feedback tool for one of the most common faults in the golf swing — arms disconnecting from the body during the swing, which kills both consistency and compression at impact.
Hold the ball between your arms at address and keep it in place as you swing. If your arms stay connected and your structure stays compact, the ball stays put. If your arms separate or your swing gets too long and disconnected, you'll feel it drop immediately — instant, physical feedback with no guesswork.
How to use it:
Place the ball between your forearms (just above the elbows) at setup and make slow, controlled swings, focusing on keeping the ball in place from takeaway through to the finish. Once that feels natural, build up to full speed swings. It's an excellent warm-up drill before a session or round to groove that connected feeling early.
Why it works:
A connected, compact swing keeps your arms and body working together through impact, which is what allows you to compress the ball properly rather than losing power and control through a disconnected, arm-dominated motion. Training this feeling repeatedly builds a more stable, repeatable strike.
Jack's Coach note:
This is one of my go-to drills for players who lose their structure under speed — it's an easy way to feel what a connected swing should feel like, without needing me there to point it out every time.
